Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We seek individuals interested in digital health and medical technology who are dynamic and eager to apply and learn new skills in developing a novel continuous blood pressure measurement device. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be both hands-on and play a crucial technical leadership role in the design, and development of our medical device.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of our continuous non-invasive blood pressure, including conceptualization, crafting proof-of-concept models, small scale prototyping, testing, and validation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, optical engineers, software engineers, and clinical specialists, to integrate multidisciplinary technologies into our product.

  • Manage consultants, and contract development vendors and be responsible for integrating various subsystems.

  • Conduct rigorous mechanical testing and analysis to ensure products comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage the entire product lifecycle, from initial design to manufacturing and post-market support.

  • Interface with suppliers, manufacturers, and external partners to ensure high-quality and timely production of components and devices.

Education Required:

BS in Mechanical Engineering or another related field

Years of Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in the design and of electro-mechanical products for medium volume.

  • 4+ years of experience SolidWorks CAD experience with best practices for part design, assemblies, configuration management, and integrating DfX feedback.

Required Qualifications:

  • Well-versed in design, prototyping, and evaluation of injection molded plastic components, metal part fabrication, packaging, and material selection.

  • Experience working collaboratively with Industrial Design, translating CMF requirements into controllable mechanical specifications.

  • Experience working with development partners and contract manufacturers.

  • Ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models.

  • Hands-on experience in building and testing experiment set-ups (not specific to any field)

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to create documentation, follow documentation protocols, and suggest improvements as required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and start-up team environment.

  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.

Additional Beneficial Attributes:

  • Machine shop experience (3D printing and basic machining tools).

  • Knowledge of optical design.

  • Experience with medical product development or other regulated industry.

  • Experience working with industrial design and human factors teams.

  • Knowledge of computational modeling and simulation (FEA).

  • Hands-on experience with basic measurement and debugging tools such as soldering, oscilloscopes, function generators, calipers, universal testing machines, multimeters, etc.

  • Good knowledge in any three of the following subjects:

  • Measurement & instrumentation, electronics devices and circuits, materials and methods, basic optics, optoelectronics, fundamentals of statistics and probability, design and manufacturing, manufacturing systems, product design and development, mechatronics, and robotics.
